VIVACIOUS DELAY
The impression I had about Deloris Frimpong Manso after chatting with her was that of a light-hearted and vibrant young woman with endless opportunities. She came to radio lime-light while working at Top Radio but the lady says she actually launched her career in radio with Oman Fm. Not too long ago, Delay dented our memory with her antics on the reality show, "Presenter's Guide" to win more lovers.
The story of humble beginnings of many public personalities is common but the same cannot be said of this daring presenter. Her mother, she said, was a prosperous business woman and provided very well for her children but after she passed, life was not that rosy for the children anymore since extended family members took over her properties.
Although she claimed she settled with radio as a result of financial constraints, she deeply admired radio presenters of the late 90s and deemed the job to be fun.
She currently hosts a mid-morning show on Oman FM which seeks to draw attention to alarming social issues whiles seeking the public’s opinion on how best to resolve them. While her choice of songs and words on her show make some people cringe with mortification, her popularity is nowhere near decline. Against the backdrop of accusations of profanity on air, the presenter says she only plays on words to make people enjoy her shows. To her, it takes intelligence to research into the multiple meanings and usage of words in order to play on them successfully. Unfortunately some listeners prefer to attach their prejudiced views. Her command over the local dialect also makes her programme stimulating. If you are a fun of highlife, you can simply tune in to get lyrics of songs by Oheneba Kissi, Daddy Lumba, Rex Omar, Kojo Antwi Kofi B and many more.
Her television show on TV3, dubbed “DELAY” is another avenue through which she is reaching her fans. The show is the usual celebrity interview but this time round, flavoured with intimate questions which seek to draw out skeletons from the closets of her interviewees. Her ability to prise out the answers leaves her guests sweating but she says her aim is just to get answers.
